Barter club, beyond bartering
The barter economy has been so far-reaching that 2002 Argentina could be qualified « pais recuperado » (with reference to firms take-over)
When discovering the completed organization of the network ‘mar y Sierras’, we thought of a parallel with the firms taken over by the workers. The network Mar y Sierras had several discussion, decision and control instances; for nodos, for various districts, at a regional level; Committees of Coordinators, but also Auditing and Work Committees.
We knew the famous firms taken-over by their employees (empresas recuperadas), in which, after the manager had left, the workers had taken back their production tool to keep their enterprise running; we discover the experience of a ‘ taken-over country’ ,in which after the State had pulled out, the Argentinians had decided to sort things out themselves to organize and survive.
